Helpful terms
Track: the canoe’s ability to keep a straight line. Shape of the hull can either influence canoes turn or go straight.
Secondary stability: stability when the canoe is tilted to one side or the other. Canoes with little secondary stability are initially extremely stable, but once tipped too far there’s nowhere to go but into the water. Canoes with good secondary stability will initially feel very unstable and tippy, but they’re easy to recover if tipped too far.

The 3rd seat is perfect for a child and the length allows for a cooler and dog as well.
Designed to track well.
A concern may be the weight, this is the heaviest canoe in the rental fleet.

Not very maneuverable and has little secondary stability.

(no rudder)

The most versatile kayak. It is good for an afternoon float, short lake tripping, or rivers.
It has more maneuverability and a slightly enclosed cockpit and cargo space in the front and back.
Not suitable for long tripping with lots of gear.
Stand-Up Paddleboard
Length – 10’ or 11’ Weight – 47 lbs

11ft is better suited for doing yoga or bringing small children along.
10ft is still very stable and easier to carry.
Not inflatable: solid fiberglass paddleboard and must go on the roof of a vehicle.
Wenonah Aurora (lake/river)

Fantastic for both an afternoon on the lake, or filling it with gear for an overnight.

Designed to be the perfect combination of a tripping canoe and a whitewater canoe.
Pack it down with gear for a couple overnights on the river.
Most maneuverable rental canoe.
Not ideal for overnight lake tripping. Paddlers will have to work harder for speed and to keep the canoe straight.
Necky Manitou II - Tandem (no rudder)

No, but a 50% non refundable deposit is required, based on the total rental cost except when otherwise indicated.

Yes. We require a credit card on file and for remote bookings by phone. Other means of payments are accepted in person.

Friday through Tuesday rentals are scheduled for pick up anytime on Friday and returned on the following Tuesday. If you pick up on a Saturday, the rental rate published does not decrease.

A cleaning fee will apply if rental equipment is returned dirty. Customers are responsible for any loss or damage to rental equipment and also for personal injury.

You may rent the boat for less days and return it, but you would still pay the posted rate. The prices posted do not include GST.

Yes, Totem employees may assist in loading rental equipment, but are not responsible for any damage or injury that may occur during the process.

Optional spray skirts may be requested for certain kayaks. Dry bags, barrels and portage carts may also be rented for an additional fee.

Trailers are available ONLY with a minimum of a 4 vessel rental.
Rental Policy
All rentals come with the required safety equipment (PFD, whistle, paddle, bilge pump or bailer and throw bag). Foam blocks, tie down straps and ropes can also be provided to assist with transport.
